Nordholt Business Meeting Minutes:
7/8/07
-The meeting was called to order at 6:20 pm, Mauera Cethin, Adiantum
Seneschal, presiding.
-Mauera talked about how this meeting is going to run; expectations.
-This is a business meeting. There are no ranks in this room; everyone
has an equal vote.
-Be courteous, raise hands, etcetera.
- Anyone not able to follow these rules will be asked to leave. (Let's
hope it never comes to that)
Old Business
-Stinky War:
-Nemo reported that Stinky war was fun. About 141 people attended, with
35 fighters and about 12 mundanes.
-Thomas St. Clair went to the hospital with a possibly damaged wrist,
but he was okay.
-Nemo believes they made money, but very little. Current count is $12,
but the Exchequer is still waiting on some receipts.
-Some of the new people came to the Canton Social after Stinky War-good
follow-up.
-Morganna is stepping down/has stepped down as Seneschal.
-Alex is stepping down as Exchequer in January.
-In order to be a viable branch, these offices need to be filled and
we must maintain one additional greater officer.
New Business
-Mauera asked, "Who can step up as Seneschal?" Isabeau volunteered.
Mauera then asked, "Who can step up as Exchequer?" No one
answered.
-Is This Branch Viable?
-Discussion re: whether this Canton is viable. We need more numbers
at Council meetings. This is a small branch-everyone needs to be willing
to take an office.
-Mauera plans to put this up to a vote tonight. 3x5 cards will be distributed
to members of Nordholt who are at council for a Confidential Vote. Voters
will write yes or no-is this branch viable? Mauera has to make a recommendation
tonight.
-Two things to consider when voting:
1) Are you, as an individual, willing and able to step up and take an
office?
2) Can we play well together?
-Discussion opens.
-There is much discussion re: past and current conflicts within the
branch, pluses and minuses of the dissolution of Nordholt.
-Vote:
-Mauera passed out 3x5 cards-each member of Nordholt present at council
(member of SCA, 18 years or older, resident of Nordholt) has a vote.
Voters write "yes" if they believe that Nordholt is viable
or "no" if they don't. If voters wish, they may write down
their reasoning. Mauera must report vote count, her final decision,
and the reason for her decision.
-Final Vote: 7 yes, 3 no.
Officer Elections:
-Mauera asks: Is anyone besides Isabeau able to be Seneschal? Bangin
Fitzhugh volunteers.
-Both Isabeau and Bangin will be interviewed verbally at this meeting.
They are given some time to think.
-Mauera asks: Who will be Exchequer deputy now and Exchequer later?
This decision does not have to be made now. Stephanie speaks of wishing
to become Exchequer down the road, but she cannot be Exchequer or the
Exchequer's deputy while she is Princess.
-William Geoffrey wishes to autocrat Stinky War next year.
-Bangin Fitzhugh gives a verbal resume to become Seneschal and answers
questions from the populace. Isabeau does the same.
-Isabeau and Bangin left the room, and the populace discussed the Seneschal
position. In a confidential vote, Bangin was elected. The candidates
returned and received the announcement.
-The new Seneschal must be on the checking account! To that end, Morgana
of Green River (Patricia Farley) will be removed from the signature
card and the checking account. Bangin Fitzhugh (Sam Morris) will be
added to the signature card and the checking account.
-The mailing address for statements needs to be changed to Sam Morris's
address.
Meeting Place and Time Changes:
-Can we do this?
-William Geoffrey, Stephanie, and Isabeau have been calling around,
and they have not found anywhere usable other than parks.
-Next month, we will meet at Ray's unless we find something else in
the meantime.
Next Month:
-We will not yet take bids for Stinky War.
-We will discuss meeting relocation.
-We will discuss demo opportunities.
-Our Chatelaine reports that she is planning to have Newcomer's Demos
every quarter, starting in September. We will discuss this next month,
as well.
-Mauera adjourned the meeting at about 8:30 pm.
